My bad. Anyhow, Ol' Uncle Cobras is back, with lots of updates and exciting news for the IllCon Universe. I hope you guys can forgive me for my long absence, I've been super busy Gangnam-styling, watching Iggy Azalea videos, jerking off to presidential debates, rocking out to Slayer with my cat, and taking part in all sorts of illicit, undisclosed activities which are best not discussed here. Add a shitty update to the Blogger template system and multiple suspensions of my vast and untraceable Mediafire accounts, and you've got quite a recipe for overall inactivity and frustration from your favorite blogger (me) on your favorite site (this one). Pathetic. Just pathetic.

But hey, I ain't here to sweat the petty shit. I'm here to pet the sweaty shit. Illogical Contraption--while relatively slow in the Blogspot World--has been going nuts in other realms, which is what we're really here to talk about today. First and foremost, IllCon Radio has been going bananas as of late, which you would never know if you happen to download episodes off the "show archive" column over there on the right. Out of a general sense of spite toward the file-sharing world (what is it, illegal all of the sudden?), I haven't updated this page for a FULL EIGHT EPISODES, which I admit is both bogus and sad. I know lots of you dudes out there get the show that way (at least a couple hundred per episode, if Mediafire is telling the truth), so rejoice in the fact that I finally got off (on?) my ass and uploaded episodes 43-50. That's almost 16 hours of drunken fun! Have at it.

But I have not only been a chode in my weekly maintenance of new podcasts here on the old Blogspot. Mediafire, being the dick that it is, has also offed several CLASSIC episodes for whatever reason, and I've only just recently had the time and momentum to find and re-up those fuckers, too. RAPIDSHARE SUCKS ASS (Another Maintenance Post)

Has anyone else noticed how bad things have gotten on the Rapidshare filehosting service? Not only do I get the same "no room for you, too many PREMIUM members using RS right now" (fucking elitists!) message whenever I try to download from the site, but recent policy changes and dwindling concern for user friendliness have quickly moved the folks at Rapidshit to the top of my "People To Kill" list.
Allow me to elaborate: Maybe you guys remember the 'Yearly Maintenance' post I put up on Decemeber 3. Well, the "maintenance" was neccesary due to the fact that Rapidfuck has a 3-month "expiration date" of sorts, meaning that when a file doesn't get downloaded for 90 days it gets deleted. Fair enough. I understand that memory is money and Rapidcock can't afford to store endless amounts of information indefinitely. Hence about 60 albums (out of about 350) from the I.C. Archives were deleted from the Rapidballs server within the first year of this blog's existence. So I went through, found the missing files, and re-upped them on either MediaFire or Megaupload (who aren't without their issues either, but don't have the same "expiration date" policy and are generally far superior to Rapidsack). These 60 albums were the ones featured in the 'Yearly Maintenance' post. Feeling as though I had put my business straight and wouldn't have to worry about upload maintenance for another year or so, I (relatively) forgot about the whole thing and moved on, now using MediaFire as my main file-host.
Well, here's the bad news: Out of pure curiosity, I went back recently to check on the "health" of the old files still stored on Rapidsuck. Guess what? Someone must have changed their "expiration date" from 3 months to 3 days, because in the last two months, almost HALF of the stuff I had on there is now gone (this is over 120 albums - A LOT). So here we go again.

I'm not even sure what Rapidsphincter's policies actually are these days, but shit seems to be going downhill fast. I'm sure I'll eventually have to move everything left over there on to a different filehosting service, which I don't mind doing. But it takes A LOT of time to do it. Shit, a whole lot of music has probably been deleted since I started work on this round of maintenance. And I'll get around to restoring ALL of it eventually. But not now. I'm exhausted.

YEARLY MAINTENANCE

Or: A BELATED BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION IN THE LAND OF CONFUSION


I'm befuddled at today's turn of events.

To wit: First off, an anonymous whistleblower rats out Illogical Contraption for sharing copyrighted material, which, in addition to being both bogus and sad, results in MediaFire deleting ALL files I had stored there (140 albums worth), including a collection of 60+ expired links I had re-upped to commemorate the one-year birthday of I.C.

Second, I write a letter of inquiry to the kind folks at MediaFire, asking why my files were deleted. MF replies with a "meh", causing me to call it a lost cause and move on.

Third, I begin re-upping albums onto Megaupload, swapping out links in earlier posts to keep music available for the readers of this fine blog.

Lastly, out of naught but pure curiosity, I return to MediaFire earlier today, only to find that (drumroll, please...) ALL OF MY FILES HAVE BEEN RETURNED. No explanation has been offered or requested. OK, um, cool...?

So the I.C. Yearly Maintenance is, in fact, taking place. As a result, here is a whole shitload of music which had previously gone out to pasture. Enjoy it responsibly.
