ATOMIC ROOSTER - DEATH WALKS BEHIND YOU (1970)

Atomic Rooster were a progressive/hard rock trio that formed in the UK in 1969, featuring Vincent Crane and Carl Palmer from The Crazy World of Arthur Brown (Palmer went on to join Emerson, Lake and Palmer). This is their second album released in 1970, hot on the heels of their self-titled debut. Chock full of Hammond B-3 and intense drum spasms, Atomic Rooster is too jazzy to be called Metal, but too heavy to be called jazz. Either way, they were important in the evolution of Metal, and in addition, this is just one Hell of a great album. Highly recommended for fans of early 70's protoplasmic Freak Rock. The seven minute title track ALONE has been known to cause severe pants-shitting for the uninitiated.

My first album and set me on a course for life. Listen to it loud and with headphones on.
