RIPPING CORPSE - DREAMING WITH THE DEAD (1991)

Holy shit!
Possibly one of the greatest goddamn Death Metal albums of all time, Ripping Corpse's "Dreaming With The Dead" is an absolute must-have for anyone with a Hessian Obsession, a disc that serves the dual purpose of being a total Poser Exposer and also a Loser Excuser. This thing kicks the ever-loving shit out of just about anything that came before it, ditto for everything that came after. Songs schizophrenically alternate between doomy thunder and blast-beat insanity, all the while fronted by some of the best early 90's-Florida-Death vocals this side of Obituary. I LOVE this fucking album.

Although it was their only full-length release, "Dreaming With The Dead" introduced us for the first time to a young shredder named Erik Rutan, who went on to join some band called Morbid Angel (and then some other band called Hate Eternal). Most of the other guys went on to form the equally-shredding Dim Mak, but THIS is where it all began, a primitive, malevolent slab of Metal History that EVERYONE should be forced (at gunpoint) to own at least 5 copies of.
The Posers have been Exposed. The Losers have been Excused. Ripping Corpse is all that is left.

Compare this album's cover to the Black Queen album cover.
