Sometimes you find youself doubting. Doubting yourself, your abilities, your friends, Hell, your whole life. Every day is a challenge and it's inevitable that we all stumble at times on this long, hard walk we call existence. Life is nothing but a series of hills and valleys. Sometimes you find yourself at a dazzling peak, stunned by the beautiful panorama surrounding you, only to find yourself moments later mired in the deepest, dankest bog imaginable. When I find myself mired in that dank, dank bog, I know there's only one way out.
Putting on Manowar's "Metal Warriors" and screaming along till my lungs bleed.
1992 was the year. "The Triumph Of Steel" was the album. Manowar was the band. Absolute unification of every Metal Brother and Sister in the kingdom was the task.
"Metal Warriors" was the song.
The first time I opened this disc, the cover fell open, revealing a much bigger picture. This was not just a Metal Warrior bearing a hammer and broadsword... This was a Metal Warrior, maidens cast about his mighty feet, shooting electricity from his weapons as the very gates of Hell opened beneath him!
Manowar, too, has this same effect. On the outside they appear to be yet another group of barbaric hessians, chanting their tales of war and plunder. But as we journey toward their fiery core, casting off layer upon layer of foolish assumption like so many metallic onion skins, we come to the truth. Manowar is Faith, Manowar is Unity, and Manowar has something to teach us all about ourselves. If you love metal, Manowar has your fucking back, and if you're a wimp or a poser, Manowar will strike you down. We are all in this together (except the aforementioned wimps and posers), we are all METAL WARRIORS, and THIS IS OUR DECREE!
Ladies and gentlemen, a piece of timeless poetry...
"Metal Warriors"
"Every one of us has heard the call
Brothers of true metal proud and standing tall
We know the power within us has brought us to this hall
Theres magic in the metal theres magic is us all
Heavy metal or no metal at all whimps and posers leave the hall
Heavy metal or no metal at all whimps and posers go on get out
Leave the hall
Now the world must listen to our decree
We dont turn down for anyone we do just what we please
Got to make it louder, all men play on ten
If youre not into metal, you are not my friend
Heavy metal or no metal at all whimps and posers leave the hall
Heavy metal or no metal at all whimps and posers I said
Leave the hall
Now the world must listen to our decree
We dont turn down for anyone we do just what we please
Got to make it louder, all men play on ten
If youre not into metal, you are not my friend
Theres metal in the air tonite, can you hear it call
If you aint got the balls, to take it you can
Leave the hall
Heavy metal or no metal at all whimps and posers leave the hall
Heavy metal or no metal at all whimps and posers leave the hall"
This was actually the LEAST homoerotic picture I could find of Manowar>>

This is one of my favorite albums, and the sad cry of "wimps and posers, leave the hall" is just one of the reasons. "Spirit Horse of the Cherokee" is another. So many great and ridiculous songs, and the cover art matches it all perfectly. Thanks for posting.
I like to think there's a little Joey DeMaio in all of us, bro.
Well sorry, but that's just plain wrong, no matter how you put it. But, you're probably an adult by now so you've realised that by yourself.
