SEMI-OBSCURE ACTION STAR OF THE WEEK: FRED DRYER!

Anyone else remember the awesome TV show Hunter, which ran from 1984-1991? The best part of Hunter, of course, was Rick Hunter, the big-ass-gun-toting, physically imposing LAPD detective played by the brilliant Fred Dryer. In case you DON'T remeber the show, here's a quick refresher:

HOLY SHIT!!! THAT WAS AWESOME!!!

That's right. Hunter fucking RULED, a gritty, brutal cop drama inspired by the success of the Dirty Harry film series. Fred and his co-star DeeDee McCall (played by Stepfanie Kramer) solved crimes the old-fashioned way, usually by either beating the ever-loving shit out of perps or just plain shooting them. Which is pretty fucking sweet, if you ask me.

You may have noticed that in earlier installments of 'Semi-Obscure Action Star of the Week' I chose movie stars (namely Sho Kosugi and Cynthia Rothrock) with strong ties to real-world badassery (Kosugi was a real ninja, while Rothrock was an internationally recognized martial arts master). Dryer is no different. Please note the example to the left.
That's right, Dryer took his lumps on the NFL field from 1969 to 1982, playing defensive end for both the Rams and the Giants. After his retirement, his successful TV show took up the slack, which led to a couple TV movies and roles elsewhere. Oh, and he married a Playboy centerfold, Tracy Vaccaro, who he power-fucks six times before bed every night.
Well done, Fred!

P.S. Hunter is even better in French!

Next week: LORENZO LAMAS!

Didn't he have a talking gun? Or am I thinking of a different show?

The Thing That Should Not Be said...

Hunter? WORKS FOR ME.

Don't you think he TOTALLY should have played Judge Dredd in the movie, as opposed to Stallone, who totally sucks?
