NEIL HAMBURGER/GREGG TURKINGTON - GREAT PHONE CALLS (1992)

...And now, faithfulful readers, I bring to you THE GREATEST COLLECTION OF PRANK CALLS OF ALL TIME! Originally released in 1992 on the now defunct San Francisco avant-punk label Amarillo Records, Great Phone Calls was the first known appearance of up and coming comedian Neil Hamburger and features calls from a young Mike Patton and Trey Spruance, then of Mr. Bungle fame. Lead by Bay Area musician/prankster Gregg Turkington, Amarillo Records released some of the best outsider metal and noize art ever recorded, including The Sun City Girls, Faxed Head, Secret Chiefs 3 and Harvey Sid Fisher. Hopefully we can get some of their other long out of print albums up here. (Anyone out there have some Zip Code Rapists???)

Thank G-D Ipecac had the good sense to reissue this masterpiece in 2000 with some amazing bonus tracks (outgoing voice mail messages!). Every track is a winner. This was a very important record for me and my circle of friends during our developmental high school years, and I'm proud to share it with you today!

BRO-NESS ALBUM: In 2009 America's Funnyman teams up with Australian punkers The Hard Ons for an epic 7"and consequently creates the greatest Black Flag cover ever (Six Pack). 4 songs, totally worth the download.

"American Exports" is totally my new favorite song.

Also, people who are into these 2 recordings and want to hear them mixed with super-retarded metal should go here:
