Standouts in the over-populated "regional grind-punk-metal" genre, Desolation kicks major ass for 3 very important reasons: 1) They are screechier, louder, and meaner than all the other cookie-cutter HC bands in the Bay Area. 2) Desolation features members of Born/Dead, Strung Up, and Abrupt. 3) Punchy McGee, fictional younger brother and bodyguard of Chuffy McGee, is their drummer. A couple months ago I was bored on a Saturday night and decided to check out my local bar. I walked right into these guys beginning a killer set and loved every second. They remind me a lot of His Hero is Gone and thats not a bad thing at all.
