CATHETER - PREAMBLE TO OBLIVION (2002)
Catheter first appeared on the Illogical Contraption radar back in April, as part of 1998's fabulous Hymns For The Hearing Impaired compilation. While they don't have the most original sound in the world, they make up for their lack of innovation with an abundance of pure grinding crusty brutality, bringing it fast and heavy to anyone foolish enough to get in their way.
Catheter come from Denver, CO, and are part of that whole midwest/southwest grindcore/hatecore/noisecore thing that seemed to peak back in the late 90's (as evidenced by a slew of split records with bands like Laughing Dog, Black Market Fetus, and Bent Over Backwards). They're still around, but Preamble To Oblivion was their first "official" full-length, and thus far, also their best.

I was in an Albuquerque grind band called Fukrot that did a split with Catheter. Recording it and dealing with the guy from Catheter was an unpleasant experience.
Ronaldo?
I think it was Geraldo, like the TV personality. Turns out he recorded us just because he wanted to screw the other singer (I growled, she shrieked). When our half of the split got a better review in MMR he refused to press any more.
Yeah, Haroldo. That's it. I met him up in Humboldt years ago. Seemed like an OK guy, but testosterone makes us all a little silly sometimes...
