Here's a particularly sweet score, from back when comic book film adaptations were still a good idea. Even for a PG-rated movie, Swamp Thing was pretty fuckin' killer, thanks to performances by Adrienne Barbeau and good ol' Swampy himself. Harry Manfredini (who also scored the original Nightmare On Elm Street) chipped in a great soundtrack on this one, pretty standard as far as dramatic film scores go, but creepy and dynamic enough to stick out from the crowd. Reminds me in a way of the early-to-mid 80's work of Mr. Basil Pouledouris.Epic.

I loved the first Swamp Thing film and really wanted to see the sequel but I grew old and forgot...
ReplyDeletethe sequel is a little more hokey than the original but is still entertaining and they just re-released it on dvd. and heather locklear is quite babelicious in this film.

ReplyDeleteJust to make a correction on the post: Harry Manfredini scored the first Friday the 13th, not A Nightmare on Elm Street (that would be Charles Bernstein). Thanks for this nonetheless though.
