Trolling Morbid clunge ferrets...

I just can't let it go...

  1. I thought that meme was played-out but damn that was awesome. All I can figure is that David Vincent is really into some sort of bizarre S&M kind of public humiliation. That album is gayer than 50 guys blowing 60 guys. Why didn't they just hire Fred Durst?

Radikult's a facepalm-inducing misstep, but I actually like the rest of the album quite a bit. Nevermore, Existo Vulgore, and Profundis - Mea Culpa fucking kill.

Also, this seems incredibly relevant to Illud: http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=113789

  3. Fuck that "extreme music for extreme people" horseshit. Morbid Angel fans don't want to go to a Morbid Angel gig and hear so-called "techno" or "jungle" or (God help me) "bass & drum" stuff. Since when does fucking Trey get to decide who's "closed-minded" and who isn't? We all have to be subjected to whatever HE'S into at the moment? Nonsense. After recording EIGHT "death metal" albums, he wants to go in a different direction and expects his fans to just mindlessly jump on board? THAT'S "closed-minded". I'm more than capable of listening to whatever the hell I like and I don't need a guy who's released four or five decent songs over the last eleven years to explain that to me. If I wanted to hear David Vincent embarrass himself I'd buy a Genitorturers ticket.

  4. Downfall meme is always worthwhile as long as whatever Hitler is angry about is relevant

  5. I love that Vincent and Azagthoth are trying to blame 'closed-minded' metal fans for their monstrous error being so badly received, yet at no point do they appear to have thought "Uhh...hang on...maybe this just doesn't WORK?". The entire endeavour is so badly mistimed, seeing as how Gabba, jungle and drum 'n' bass had their heyday around fifteen years ago - I KNOW, I was THERE.
It all just smacks of a deliberate attempt to cultivate new fans from the massively tedious and backward-looking 'goth', cybergoth and EBM scenes that Vincent so desperately wants to be a part of, but at the expense of any GENUINE fans of their music.
Now, I LOVE Skinny Puppy, and I LOVE Autopsy, but if you smashed the two together I would fucking HATE it. Genre hybridizing doesn't always work, and in THIS case it has created something that takes the absolute WORST of both halves and begets a half-assed abortion.

Incidentally, I posted the 'Hitler's Reaction To The New Morbid Angel Album' video on Pete Sandoval's facebook page and he thinks it's HILARIOUS, which should tell you everything you need to know about why Pete isn't even thanked on the new record...

Oh, and for anyone who thinks I'm 'narrow-minded', feel free to come 'round to my place and admire my extensive Elvis Costello, Voivod, Foetus, Swans, Melvins and Sun City Girls collections.

  6. morbid angel is the first death metal band that i truly enjoyed. i had to at least give this record a shot. and it is fucking terrible. they should have kept steve tucker around (he's WAAAAAY better than vincent)

  7. Let's make no mistake about it: the reaction to this album has nothing to do with "death metal fans" being "closed-minded" mouth-breathing idiots who hate anything "different". It's about the fact that the album is a remorselessly awful piece of shit. The idea that this slab of garbage incorporates all kinds of musical influences that are just zooming over our heads is ridiculous and insulting. The only influence I hear on those god-awful tracks is "pro wrestling theme music". Don't shit on my Twinkie and call it icing, man.

  8. Some of the samples sound ok, some not so good. Blades for Baal sounds like one of the the better tracks from Domination.

Money quote from the youtubes: "Ok, I was like "I don't know what everyone's so pissed about, this isn't bad..." and then I got to "I Am Morbid" and nearly had to beat my wife."

  9. Vincent immediately kills the image of morbid angel with his strange outfits. when i saw him in tight guns n roses leather i feared the sound of the new album. Just watch his scion rock fest videos on you tube and when your headaches over, check out some immolation, cause they fuckin rule.

  10. The Wintersun version of the Hitler video is pretty hilarious too. Definitely worth checking out.

  11. This new one reminds me of when Cryptopsy released The Unspoken King a few years back. I am appalled to say the least.

  12. That's funny, I heard someone somewhere say Illud is "this generation's Unspoken King". At first I was all "Yeah", then I was all "this GENERATION?"
