ACRID - SEA OF SHIT (2000)

"Poison Free Powerviolence", eh? Okay, I'll bite...

Yeah, so maybe there are big black X's on their hands, maybe they have dorky haircuts or want to fight you because you're smoking a joint. Whatever. Truth is that in their day, Canada's Acrid laid down some of the sickest, weirdest, most discordant grindcore this side of His Hero Is Gone. Active throughout the 90's, Acrid released their double swan songs Sea of Shit and Eighty-Sixed at the end of said decade, leaving behind a legacy of messy HC, chaotic live performances, and unapologetic politics for us to stew over lo these many years later.
No matter what your personal ethics may be, any fan of extreme music has to at least step back and tip their cap at this furious onslaught, as the pure conviction and anger present on this recording are enough to humble any Hessian (see also: Abnegation). So shut up, put down your Natty Ice for a second, and get thoroughly educated.
