OK seriously, guys...
I didn't see that Aesop had posted the "other" Legend over at Cosmic Hearse today until I had already uploaded and saved this post. "Cosmic" coincidence? Rip in the very fabric of space-time? Metaphysical oracular prophecy? Hmmm...
To be quite honest, the "other" Legend (from Conneticut) is probably a little more fun than this one. After all, they have the prerequisite fascination with wizards and Vikings on lock, and Slough Feg even covered one of their songs once. That's why Cosmic Hearse has approximately seven times the "followers" IC does. EXCELLENCE. INTEGRITY. A COMMITMENT TO QUALITY.
For your daily dose of mediocrity, you know where to come: right here to fucking Illogical Contraption, brother. And speaking of mediocrity, let's talk about this Legend, a NWOBHM also-ran hailing from the isle of Jersey in the English Channel. While their chunka-chunka riffs and questionable recording quality (the band produced the album themselves) might have kept them from the upper echelons of British Metal royalty, Jersey Legend still know how to have some fun, and if you're looking for some 4/4 mustache-rock to pump out of your Datsun pickup truck this album just might work for you.
I've heard the vocals on Death In The Nursery described as "AM-radio-friendly", and I think that's part of the draw here. While the subject matter is a tad morbid (see album title and the songs "Anthrax Attack" or "Why Don't You Kill Me?"), these songs are upbeat and grin-inducing, and like a good pizza display equal amounts of cheese and crunch. Good-time tunes for summer fun. I'm guessing Del Tigre will dig this.

Don't sell yourself short, this Legend is also quite awesome. Perhaps all bands called Legend are. IC is still the best read on the interwebs.
ReplyDeleteCALM YOUR BONERS BOYS. You're making us all blush.
ReplyDeleteOoo, you rascal! I was gonna post this soon. But fair is fair, I dilly-dallied too long. Both Legends are killer, though. Mediocre? Pish posh!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing more common than an IC Comments Section Boner Fest is an official Manslaughter Condemnation of said Fest. Lighten up, Lunch Lady.
ReplyDeleteAlright fine. Bone away boys.
