Two musical projects with nothing in common besides five letters in their names:
COMBATWOUNDEDVETERAN - I KNOW A GIRL WHO DEVELOPS CRIME SCENE PHOTOS (1999)
Forget the garish neon text on the album cover and the terrible title. In fact, toss out all of your preconceived notions about this band. Done? OK, good. Here are the facts:
CWV was from Ithaca, New York, DC, Salt Lake City, and Tampa, Florida, somehow. They existed from about 1996 to about 2003 and toured very little. They played short, noisy, abrasive, HC/grind/powerviolence songs about torsos, gore, dead bodies, losing limbs, and traumatic injuries. They shared some conceptual/aesthetic ground with Men's Recovery Project, but resemble them in no way musically. I Know A Girl was their first "official" full-length release. It kills.

NURSE WITH WOUND - SPIRAL INSANA (1986)
Above: Original vinyl release. Below: CD re-issue.
Founded by twisted sicko Steven Stapleton and a couple of his bros in England all the way back in 1978, NWW is sort of like the soundtrack to a really bad dream, existing somewhere in the foul ether between the horrors of waking life and the soul-crushing misery of your deepest fears. Though terms such as "krautrock" and "industrial" (NO) are bandied about, it is my distinct belief that only the dread term "experimental" even comes close to what is happening here. Unless you enjoy weird shit like ambient buzzing, reverbed-out cat meows, and cryptic squeakings of decrepit rocking chairs, you might want to just steer clear. Pussy.
The original vinyl release of Spiral Insana featured twenty separately-titled tracks, which oozed and flowed into each other like sonic amoeba. In the true spirit of experimental music and its trademark inaccessabilty, the CD version is only three tracks, with original titles abandoned. That's the version you're getting. See the original titles here, if that sort of thing is important to you.

Is it just me or does Stapleton look exactly like a cross between Vag Vikernes (misspelling NOT accidental) and Charmand Grimloch?
