JAMES HORNER - COMMANDO SOUNDTRACK (1985)

Another 80's soundtrack gem, from the mind of Krull composer James Horner. This one has sort of a cheesy "island"/"jungle" feel, due to the inclusion of steel drums, pan flutes, and tribal, nad-pumping beats, but the plentiful saxophone riffage keeps it more Miami Vice than Congo. Smooth as all Hell, but still intense and charmingly synth-y. James Horner, John Matrix. John Matrix, James Horner. GO!

One caveat: The score also includes a bonus (???) track, the brutally Eighties-adelic "We Fight For Love" by The Power Station. You can listen to the song below (accompanied by a Commando best-of video) to decide whether it's your cup of tea or not. I dig it, but the cheese runs deep on this one:

  1. I prefer the phrase "Rare = Share" because most people think scarcity is an excuse to gouge eachother.

Do you have any Warsore or Resist albums?

(P.S. all download versions of Vangelis BR part 2 is nonfunctional. For me and Regis anyway, maybe it works fine for everybody else.)

  2. I will check into that again tomorrow, although I re-upped it again and downloaded it myself to make sure it was good.

Rare = Share. I like that.

i don't have any Warsore, but I do have some Resist. Although there are about a million bands called Resist. So you might have to be a little more specific.

  3. Resist were an extremely political punk/early grind (more the former than the latter) band. I have very little info, they sounded British but were US (east coast?) early 90's I think. The sound was somewhat Dis-band monotone lo-fi.
They were pretty big in the domestic political-punk underground, released an LP on red vinyl. I'm sure that doesn't help at all.

BR downloads fine, but can't unzip. Is corrupt or unreadable, wrong file type etc.

  4. Arnold kills one hundred people in this one.

  5. Seth/Regis: Try this and this. I give up.

And Resist - I have some stuff from a more recent punk band by that name, and one song off an old compilation that sounds like it might be the one you're talking about. I'll check into it further.

  6. I'm now told that the RESIST I'm thinking of were from Portland Oregon. I dunno.
