For my black metal dollar, it just don't get much better than 1349's Beyond The Apocalypse. It's complex, blasty, dark, a little bit ridiculous, and recorded decently enough that you can make out what's going on while still keeping some graveyard dirt under its fingernails. Its predecessor, 2003's Liberation, kicks some ass too, along with its antecessor, 2005's Hellfire. Unfortunately, they took 4 years to produce this year's pinkies-out release, Revelations of the Black Flame. It's a snoozer. Too much ART, not enough SHRED. Meh.
Sure can take a good black metal band photo, though.
