WAYNE BELL AND TOBE HOOPER - TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE SOUNDTRACK (1974)
Tobe Hooper pulled a John Carpenter here, composing the score for his own film with his pal Wayne Bell. Sonically, the disc is similar to the "Phantasm" soundtrack in a lot of ways, full of farty analog synth and weird buzzing noises. And as an added bonus for anyone in a metal band, much of the macabre dialogue and tortured screams from the film are left intact on the soundtrack, providing much awesome sampling material. Also, as a bonus bonus, you also get the opening soliloquy, performed by none other than John Larroquette (y'know, Dan Fielding from "Night Court"?). Unfortunately, the crappy "Fool For A Blonde" song by Roger Bartlett from the beginning of the flick is here, too, because I'm a completist. Sorry.
Creeeeeepy stuff.

this is an awesome work of sonic art.
ReplyDeletethanks.
Awesome piece of art, the movie is really creepy, the music completes that feeling and the samples of the screaming and John Larroquette's voice simply adds to the cool stuff
ReplyDeleteany chance of a re-up?
ReplyDeletetrying to track down this score for my bootleg collection, hoping there's a chance of a re-up
