Dickie Goodman should get no credit for artist who sample records to create music.

All Dickie did was take a pop culture icon or myth, and anthropomorphize with snippets from other people's music. The only thing he came up with was the lame segues between snippets.

And I wanted to "gnash my teeth" when his son had the nerve to get peved because TV shows about UFOs in pop culture fail to mention his dad's flying saucer song. You kidding me? Mention the X-Files, ET, Close Encounters...Mention War of the Worlds but why mention Flying Saucer? That song was a rip off of H.G> Welles and Orson Welles' work. So not only did Dickie get accolades from taking other people's music, he also stole the idea for Flying Saucer.

And Jon Goodman had the nerve to credit his dad with ushering in hip hop because of the whole sample thing. Man, please. Hip Hop DJs sampled the breaks of records so rappers who have something to rap over. That had nothing to do with "break in" records. And as far as the legality of samples, he didn't teach the rappers anything: In 1992, Biz Markie had his album shelved due to a dispute of a Gilbert Sullivan sample. No one learned anything from DIckie, because his "work" had been long forgotten by then.Thoomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14502784227768010177noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645554669355760340.post-76430949184223151382010-05-24T11:43:40.984-07:002010-05-24T11:43:40.984-07:00A sealed Mr. Jaws LP is one of my most prized poss...A sealed Mr. Jaws LP is one of my most prized possessions.BILLONEY!https://www.blogger.com/profile/03161451448793233932noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645554669355760340.post-8833845710391667202010-05-19T22:52:46.480-07:002010-05-19T22:52:46.480-07:00thanks again, mr ashline. you rock.thanks again, mr ashline. you rock.Jackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07784672642240688882noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6645554669355760340.post-14484332902221737132010-05-19T22:24:42.689-07:002010-05-19T22:24:42.689-07:00thanks for the shining tribute to Dickie G.
